Academics Overview

Overall Philosophy

Hopewell Christian Academy seeks to create a nurturing environment which provides for the spiritual, mental and physical development of the child, while strengthening Christian values and reaching academic excellence.

Christian Education

Hopewell Christian Academy students are taught daily Bible classes to provide them with a quality Christian education that will help develop and maintain strong Christian discipline.

Accreditation

HCA’s curriculum has been developed to satisfy accreditation requirements.  The Academy is accredited “With Quality” by the Georgia Accrediting Commission, Inc.

Curriculum 

The primary curriculum is A Beka and we also supplement with other curricula for all grades. The Iowa Test of Basic Skills and Georgia’s Core Curriculum drive HCA’s academic instructional program.  Curricula used for instruction in grades K4 through 12th are, A Beka, ACSI’s Purposeful Design, Prentice Hall, Scott Foresman and a variety of other supplemental materials.  The Iowa Test of Basic Skills is given to all students in grades K4 through twelfth in the fall and spring each school year.  Grades  7 through 10 take the PSAT in October of each school year.Spanish, Technology, Art and Physical Education classes are taught in addition to the core subjects.Solomon’s Scholars are selected students in grades 4th-11th, who take enrichment classes in Art History, Science, and Mandarin Chinese.

K4 and K5 Education 

The core curriculum for grades K4 and K5 is A Beka.  A Beka, is supplemented by a variety of other curricula. K5’s math curriculum is ACSI’s Purposeful Design. K4 and K5 students also take Spanish, Art, P.E. and Technology Lab.

Elementary Education

The curricula use for elementary education are, A Beka for language arts and Bible, ACSI’s Purposeful Design for science and math and a variety of other curricula to teach writing skills, critical thinking and other skills.  Elementary students also take Spanish, Art, P.E. and Technology Lab.

Middle and High School Education

Prentice Hall text books are used to teach the core academic courses to middle and high school students.  Middle and high school student courses are leveled to meet individual student academic needs.  Students receive instruction in the Science Lab and the Technology Lab.  High school students are required to take two years of Spanish.  PSAT and SAT skills are also taught.
